During his screening before the Senate on Thursday, Darma articulated a vision centered on enhanced leadership, expanded access to affordable housing, and strengthened institutional frameworks within the sector. He emphasized that bridging the existing leadership gap hindering effective housing delivery would be a primary focus, promising close collaboration with the National Assembly to overcome long-standing challenges. Darma highlighted that over 100 million Nigerians are affected by inadequate housing, stressing the urgent need to make homes more accessible and affordable, particularly for low- and middle-income earners. He also underscored the importance of governance and accountability, indicating that reforms would encompass both public institutions and private sector participation in real estate development. Drawing from his experience as the former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Darma expressed confidence in his ability to reposition the ministry for greater efficiency and results.
