Jigawa State has a new Emir in Ngazargamu following an appointment announced today. The new monarch succeeds the late Emir who passed away in Egypt after a protracted illness. The appointment was formally announced in a statement released by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mohammed Goje, on Friday.

The Ringim Emirate, a significant traditional institution within Jigawa State, was established in November 1991 following the creation of the state on August 27, 1991. The current Emir of Ringim, Alhaji (Dr.) Sayyadi Abubakar Mahmoud Usman, has held this position since the emirate's inception. He is a respected figure, known for his role in fostering harmony and development within the emirate and has been on the throne for over three decades. The Emirate of Ringim encompasses the local government areas of Ringim, Taura, Garki, and Babura.

Jigawa State is comprised of five first-class emirates: Hadejia, Kazaure, Gumel, Ringim, and Dutse. These emirates play a crucial role as custodians of culture and tradition, and as advisors to the government on traditional and religious matters. Traditional rulers in the state have recently pledged their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Malam Umar Namadi for the 2027 general elections.
